I’ve been using the Warmfront Koselig Chest Warmer for a few weeks, and overall, it’s working well. It keeps my upper body warm on cool rides and descents, and it’s easy to put on or remove as conditions change. The concept is simple but effective.
This is definitely a niche product, but one that solves a real problem. If you’ve ever felt your chest go cold during a long descent or early spring ride, this will make sense immediately. If you think you might need a chest warmer, this one works.
That said, the Koselig isn’t perfect, and with a few thoughtful updates, it could go from good to great. My comments below are meant as constructive feedback for the Warmfront team.
1. Velcro attachment could be improved
The Velcro system is functional but feels a bit cheap and can snag on technical layers, risking damage. A softer or lower-profile fastener (or even a magnetic or stretch alternative) would make the product feel more premium and reduce wear on other garments.
2. Sizing feels off
I’m an adult male with a smaller, climber-type build (14-inch neck), and the women’s version might actually fit me better. The men’s sizing assumes broader shoulders and larger frames. Since smaller riders may benefit most from this type of product, it might make more sense to size by body or neck measurement (S/M/L) instead of gender.
3. Doesn’t pack that small
The Koselig takes up more space than expected, it’s bulkier than my lightweight insulated vest. On longer rides where jersey pocket space is limited, this becomes noticeable. If pack size is a must, consider the other lightweight versions.
4. Value and uniqueness
At first, the price-to-size ratio might seem hard to justify, but in fairness, there’s nothing else quite like it on the market. Warmfront deserves credit for identifying and filling a gap in the cycling gear world. For riders who understand the problem it solves, the value becomes clear.
All in all, this is a functional piece of gear that delivers on its promise.
